PRE-K – 5TH GRADE

Fabulous and Famous Teeth
See amazing teeth feats, enter Mouthie’s hands-on laboratory to learn the right way to keep your smile sparkling, and come tooth-to-tooth with George Washington’s not-so-wooden teeth to see how our first president handled losing his choppers. This engaging, interactive tour with a Museum Educator takes students throughout the museum to explore why we have teeth, why they are important, and how to take care of them.
- Meet Penny Wilson, the amazing circus performer with an “iron jaw”
- Find out why animals have different teeth for different jobs
- Learn how to make healthy food choices and stay fit for life
- Dress up and role play in the “dental office” and find out about the people who help us take care of our teeth.
4TH – 12TH GRADE 
Your Spitting Image
Discover how genetic secrets unlocked by the Human Genome Project are changing the way we live through scientific inquiry and hands-on exploration. Step into the role of a forensics investigator and discover how to identify gender and race from skulls and analyze x-rays to make identifications. Learn how DNA in saliva is changing the way we detect disease and other health issues, and see how scientists are working on growing replacement teeth from adult stem cells.

- Investigate the remarkable fluid called saliva—what it is, what it’s made of, and what it does
- Find out about the wide range of careers possible in science and dentistry
Fees:
$2 per student
1 chaperone per 10 students free; additional adults $2 each
Teachers free
Guided tours are available Wednesday–Friday at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. or 1 p.m.
Tours can accommodate a minimum of 10 students and a maximum of 80 students per visit.
